SRINAGAR: Brig. (Retd.) Harcharan Singh, Director Sainik Welfare (DSW), Jammu, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.
The DSW briefed the Governor about the various ongoing schemes, including the preparation of new target oriented programmes, for promoting the welfare of all serving personnel and ex-Servicemen who belong to J&K.
The Governor re-iterated the need for ensuring an institutionalized system, extending from the village to the State level, for hearing and promptly settling the grievances and problems faced by the serving and retired Defence Services Personnel, their families, widows and dependents. The Director was also advised to bring up a review of rehabilitation colonies for Defence Personnel at the next meeting of the Rajya Sainik Board.
