Bali discusses grievances of NBWs, committee constituted to sort out issues

JAMMU, Sept 24: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat today constituted a committee to sort out issues of Need Based Workers (NBW) working in Government  Medical College and Associated Hospitals.
The Minister constituted the committee after discussing the issues of these workers here at a meeting of authorities of GMC and Associated Hospitals of Government Medical College (GMC) in presence of functionaries of Mechanical Engineering Department (MED).
The committee headed by Additional Secretary Health, K.S. Chib has been asked to submit a report in this regard within one week.
Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr M K Bhandari, Principal GMC, Dr Zahid Geelani, Medical Superintendents of GMC, Super Specialty Hospital, CD Hospital, Deputy Superintendent SMGS, Executive Engineers Mechanical Wings and senior doctors and engineers of concerned departments were also present in the meeting.
The meeting was informed that these workers were engaged by Mechanical Engineering Department (MED) for Central Heating Division of GMC and Associated Hospitals.
It was decided that the committee would formulate a comprehensive report mentioning the nature of appointment of these workers and suggest steps for sorting out their issues including payment of wages.
The Minister asked the Principal GMC to make internal arrangement for functioning of various systems of mechanical division.  For this, he asked the GMC Principal to take over the lifts and escalators installed in the hospitals from JKPCC and   outsource man power for their maintenance and functioning.
