Nawaz’s broken record at the UN

Shiban Khaibri
While India registered a magnificent win at the UNGA, Pakistan played its broken record like a scratched gramophone record   desperately lending it a support of lies, deception and allegations trying to play its mischievous victim card. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in his speech devoted 80% time of his speech to ranting of Kashmir. The broken record was  so much irritating and arousing disgust that Pakistan  felt isolated  and its sworn friend “in need”, China  too pulled  its hands out, the  economic corridor from North to South direct through Pakistan  occupied Kashmir to Gwadar port in the Arabian sea, notwithstanding. It is widely believed that the Prime Minister of Pakistan had the written script of the speech from the Military bosses and he had just to read that out. What would one call it, a cooperation of the military and the executive or the executive subservient to the military, in office on the condition of sheer obsequiousness? That explains, for the first time, head of any state, small or big in size, eulogizing and glorifying terror and a self proclaimed terrorist carrying a bounty on his head, by name in the forum of the world body. The ethics of political philosophy and its practice stood dwarfed and demeaned by Nawaz Sharif when he described the Kashmiri terrorist Burhan Wani as “a symbol of Kashmiri Intifada”. How could there be any intifada in or from a part of a country excepting the proxy intifada stage managed,  indoctrinated , funded , armed and monitored by Pakistan itself in a part of its neighbor rather its parent country.  What Aazadi he clamoured for on behalf of  a section of Kashmiri Muslims  and wanted support for them ignoring  knowingly or hiding as to who instigated the young  people on the streets to hurl stones, missiles and bombs , even bullets on the security forces, was best known to him only. The retaliation under extreme conditions and using bare minimum force could never come under the category of “state terrorism”.  The speech was bad in taste, in tone, tenure and the level of belligerence showed a huge deficit of a matured statesmanship. The narrative too was loaded with all sorts of distortions. For more than 20 minutes, the Pakistan PM spewed lies. The crux of the speech was two desperate steps dictated by Army bosses to him, viz; saluting terrorist Burhan Wani and glorifying terrorism. Yes, the real face of Pakistan got exposed all over the world.
The world knows fairly well and memories do not fade so fast especially when it is said “Worst memories stick with us , while the nice ones  always seem to slip through our fingers” and Osama Bin Laden was not hiding in Pakistan but was well living there as a state guest while the host country played so much innocence that most of the countries started believing it but when he was plucked from there in a lightening exercise , Pakistan could neither feel like feigning innocence nor could pick up words of regret for deceiving the civilized world. So the “worst memories” sticking with every country , none could show interest to buy the rhetoric of Nawaz Sharif , not even,  at least in the barest minimum. The result post hoc was Pakistan felt isolated, ignored, insulted, snubbed and embarrassed. If there was any living creature which “hailed” the speech of Nawaz Sharif, it was Ali Shah Geelani and Umar Farooq. Glorifying slain terrorist Burhan Wani by Nawaz Sharif makes the traitors feel that the “oldest disputes on the UN charter” got some lease of life by putting it on ventilator for a while.
The question is why these separatist hawks do not make a mention of how the Secretary General Ban Ki- Moon even did not acknowledge receipt of any “dossier” from the Pakistan PM as he mentioned it in his Kashmir parroting speech. The reality is that on the contrary, he snubbed Pakistan by completely dismissing its “K” rhetoric and fully brushing aside its “dossier against India”. The dossier , it is learnt was loaded with all lies and deceptions  about human rights violations in Kashmir , much more  than Joseph Geobbles  could have conceived and hence the UN body neither agreed to intervene , nor lent credence to the allegations and hence brushing off his much trumpeted dossier and completely denying intervening in the matter. The so called and redundant UN resolutions, therefore have become a fairly tale of yore.
Pakistan, on the contrary, hid one of the darkest secrets in respect of gross human rights violations committed and being committed in Baluchistan, that of terror, genocide, atrocities, mass graves and no information about thousands missing in Baluchistan. The victims are all Muslims for whom the “Jannat” of Pakistan was carved out. While Nawaz Sharif was gloating about Kashmir unrest of his country’s doing and starring as Burhan “Rudaali”, thousands of persecuted Baluchis were demonstrating against Pakistan and its military for letting loose all forms of atrocities and killings to suppress the Baluchi freedom movement.  Sindh is simmering and so is PoK.  The Uri attack, a manifestation of utter cowardice was bound to have a wider fall out and the attempt to show to the world that Kashmir was simmering and the people over there were facing repression coinciding with the convening of 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly proved counterproductive for Pakistan as it found no takers instead global sympathy for the despicable Jihadi attack was on India’s side as this attack was condemned by world leaders. Eenam Ghambir , senior diplomat in India’s UN mission slammed Pakistan by delivering the riposte straightaway calling Pakistan a “terrorist state”. She said, “Land of Texla, one of the greatest learning centers of ancient times is now host to IVY League of Terrorism.” Minister of state, External Affairs M. J. Akbar Rebuffed Sharif by saying, “We have heard a speech full of threat bluster and rising immaturity.” He rejected Sharif’s offer of dialogue by saying, “Talks and guns do not go together. Pakistan is run by a war machine rather than by a government.”
For the first time, India has had a spectacular diplomatic win over Pakistan to the extent of fully having it exposed and isolated. India has responded at multiple levels. Jaish -e-Mohammad terrorist Masood Azhar issue too could be taken up with China which has not come in the open to support Pakistan much to their shock. Kashmir issue as compounded by Pakistan by contaminating it with armed Jihadi terrorism got completely relegated to the background much to the cardio shock of the Pro Pakistani agents in Kashmir, not to speak of their mentors. As more diplomatic squeeze is needed against this terrorist state, and the stand   toughened, no wonder a two months “Expose Pakistan “mission by Union Ministers is proposed. Other sanctions, economic and commercial could be in the offing including reviewing of Indus Water Treaty.
The other side of the problem too cannot be overlooked and as this Government has to reverse many political traditions lavishly allowed by the previous regimes and that among other things is to clip the wings of Pakistan apologists who still do not get tired of parroting vacuous and obsolete rhetoric of “Talk to them”, “Do not kill them” , or a section reporting that  “Burhan Wani was a victim of a system” and comparing him to a “revolutionary”. Those political leaders, donning red colour and following a political philosophy which most of the countries have either done away with or have brought in reforms to the extent of contradicting the basics thereof, must bear in mind that India came first. One of the senior leaders of this orientation has given a seditious statement, “Pakistan is not responsible for this attack.”There should be no space now left either in politics or in any form of public life for Burhan backers, Afzal Guru sympathizers etc. Pakistan apologists living in India should not have their hearts bubbling with pro- Pakistani feelings. JNU traitors shouting “Tukday tukdey” should be treated without showing any leniency and no sort of “Netas” made out of them by providing security and ever ready media exposure. Those who live within the Republic of India should not be allowed to destroy it from within. Propagating for Terrorist state in India should be least tolerated.
