NAAC Peer team reaches Jammu for assessment, accreditation of JU

JAMMU, Sept 26: For assessment and accreditation of the Jammu University, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Peer team reached here today.
The NAAC Peer Team is visiting JU for Cycle III of assessment and accreditation from 27th Sept to 30th Sept 2016.  After a welcome meeting tomorrow morning, the NAAC team will visit Academic Departments of the university for two days while on September 29, offsite campuses and JU central facilities like auditorium, library etc will be inspected. The team will leave Jammu after a formal Exit Meeting on September 30.
Pertinent to mention that NAAC is an autonomous organization established in 1994 by the UGA to assess and accredit institutions of Higher learning. Assessment and accreditation by NAAC is done by a Peer Team of eminent academicians and academic administrators.
According to a handout, issued by JU, the NAAC Peer Team visits are neither an inspection nor an attempt to solve any grievances. The visits are conducted with a view to validate the reports submitted by the institutions and to study the strengths and weaknesses of the Institutions. This is done through interactions, inferences, checking and validation of relevant documents. The re-assessment and re-accreditation (Cycle II) of University of Jammu was done in 2009 and University was granted “A” grade.
The NAAC Peer Team visiting JU for accreditation Cycle III,  is headed by Prof  Deobagkar (Chairperson), former Vice Chancellor, Goa University and other members are Prof  V  Vijayakumar (Member Co-ordinator), former Vice Chancellor the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Prof. Katta Narasimha Reddy, former Vice Chancellor Mahatma Gandhi University, Prof. A. Joseph Dorairaj, former Dean, Faculty of English & Foreign Language, Gandhigram Rural Institute,  Dr. Renu Bhardwaj, Professor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Prof. A.R. Tripathi, Professor, Head & Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Banaras Hindu University,  Dr  V  Rhymend Uthariaraj, former Secretary, Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission, Govt  of Tamil Nadu and former Director, Ramanujan Computer Centre, Anna University,  Prof  Nageshwar Rao, Vice Chancellor, Uttarakhand Open University,  Prof  Aparajita Chowdhury, Professor, Berhampur University,  Prof  Krishna Chandra Tiwari, Professor, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda and  Dr  K  Rama (NAAC).
