Ministers take stock of situation in border villages

JAMMU, Sept 30 : Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary and Minister for Industries Chander Prakash Ganga today conducted extensive tour of border villages to take stock of the situation in the backdrop of prevailing tension.
Sham Choudhary visited border villages in Suchetgarh and R S Pura sector.
Member Parliament, Jugal Kishore Sharma, SDM Suchetgarh, Tehsildars, officers of security agencies and Health Department accompanied the Minister during the visit.
During his tour, the Minister interacted with the people of border villages including Abdullian, Samke, Bera, Choga and Raipur and informed them about the steps being taken by the Government for ensuring their safety.
The Minister directed the officers of the district administration to ensure that basic facilities including power supply, water supply, sanitation and information system are made at the temporary shelter locations, besides providing transportation facility at the time of emergency. The SDM informed the Minister that contingency plan has been made for dealing with any eventuality.
The Minister directed the officers of Health Department to keep ambulances on standby and staff on alert for dealing with any contingency.
The Minister further said that a list of temporary shelter locations should be displayed in the villages. He also called for keeping a close contact with the village heads, Numbardars and Chowkidars.
The district administration informed that temporary shelters have been set up for accommodating the villagers at Bana Singh Stadium, Govt. Boys Hr. Sec. School RS Pura, Govt. Hr. Sec. School Miran Sahib, ITI RS Pura, Govt. Boys Hr. Sec. School Kotli Shahdoula, City Middle School RS Pura, Boys Middle School Mill area, Girls Middle School Mill area and Social Welfare Complex RS Pura.
Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga visited Keso Manasa, Govindgarh, Nanga, Dag, Nandpur and met various delegations there.
Minister assured the people that elaborate contingency measures have been taken by the Government and also issued instructions to all revenue officers to closely monitor the situation and take immediate measures to ensure safety of the villagers close to Border.
Meanwhile Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today convened a meeting of civil and police authorities to review the preparedness of administration in wake of escalating tension along LoC.
The minister exhorted for close coordination among all concerned departments to ensure that people get basic facilities in temporary camps.
The minister also directed the concerned officers of Food and Civil Supplies Department to ensure adequate supply of ration kerosene oil and LPG for these camps.
The police and para military forces were directed to enhance security and keep an eye across the district to check any untoward incident beside the police department was directed to deploy sufficient security personals around these camps.
