REASI, Sept 30: Horticulture Department Reasi today organized technology dissemination cum awareness programme at block Pouni.
Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Information Technology, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Tribal Affairs, Relief and Rehabilitation and Labour and Employment Ajay Nanda was the chief guest while Deputy Commissioner Ravinder Kumar was the guest of honour.
On the occasion, the Minister also launched a Handbook-cum-Diary on the topic ‘Cultural operations in the temperate areas of the District Reasi’ and distributed it to about 200 farmers who attended the awareness program.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that there is a wide scope of horticulture sector in the district and called upon the stakeholders to use best techniques to increase their production.
He said that the handbook distributed to them would definitely help in increasing the production and quality of various fruits grown in the area. “Better production means higher returns and economic prosperity”, he added.
Later, the MoS also inspected various nurseries of Horticulture Department.
Chief Horticulture Officer Sushil Kumar, district officers besides a large number of farmers attended the programme.
