SRINAGAR, Oct 5: While criticizing the arbitrary announcement for conducting Board exams in Kashmir, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) vice president and MLC G N Monga today urged the Government to take the ground situation into account before conducting the annual exams.
In a statement to media he said, “Whole world knows that from the last three months all the educational institutions in Kashmir are closed. How can students appear in exams when they haven’t completed even 50 percent syllabus. To portray a perception of normalcy, the Government wants to make students scapegoats which is unfair.”
“It would be better if the Government defers the exams till March as the situation in Kashmir is volatile this time. Also the students are in stress due to the prevailing situation in the Valley,” the Congress leader said.
He demanded that if the government wants to go ahead with its plan to hold exams in November, it should give relaxation in the syllabus. “It would be unfair on majority of the students to ask them to appear in exams. May be some students who are from well off families are studying outside this time, but majority are helpless,” Monga added.
