NC, PDP responsible for Valley situation:Vakil

Excelsior Correspondent
SRINAGAR, Oct 8: Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil today  said that the mainstream parties like NC and PDP are responsible for the present situation in Kashmir valley as they had all along been using sentimental slogans and exploited people for voting consideration what commitments they had made to the voters during elections like autonomy and self rule, had never been fulfilled.
In a press statement here today, Vakil said it is now the duty of all the mainstream political leaders to get united and use their influence to compel the Union Government for initiating dialogue with the different stake holders including Hurriyat to resolve Kashmir imbroglio for restoration of permanent peace in the State if the mainstream parties are honestly interested in stopping this bloodbath of innocent people of Kashmir, then they must stop playing to galleries for vote bank politics, Vakil added.
He stressed upon mainstream leaders to show pragmatic zeal and vehemence to initiate immediate ground level politics to help the people in the Valley from the ghastly approach of the Centre and the State Governments which is criminally oriented. Mere statements cannot help, urgent need of the hour is to do something practical for restoration of peace and normalcy in the Valley which can  only be achieved by forcing the Central Government to come forward to initiate dialogue as wars had neither resolved any issue.
Vakil in a statement also stressed upon the Congress High Command to clear its position on the demand of Union territory to Ladakh. He said ruling PDP and the opposition NC have already expelled their senior party functionaries for supporting this demand to demonstrate the practical opposition to the demand of division of State but Congress is still silent. Union Government too, has not cleared its position on the said issue and remained silent. They should understand such voices can come from Chenab valley and Peer Panchal also which will definitely lead towards disintegration of the State. Vakil said this demand is against the spirit of the unity of Jammu and Kashmir.
