Veeri calls for timely completion of ongoing projects

SRINAGAR, Oct 8: Saying that acceleration of development tempo and provision of good governance is the focus of the Government, Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri has asked the engineers to speed up the pace of work on ongoing developmental projects ensuring their timely completion.
Chairing a meeting of the officers here today to get first hand appraisal of the projects being executed under R&B, JKPCC and PMGSY, the Minister sought detailed reports from circle heads about the status of under-execution works being carried out in their respective jurisdiction.
Among others, Commis-sioner Secretary R&B Rohit Kansal, Chief Engineer R&B Satish Razdan, JKPCC Managing Director Daleep Thussu and Superintending Engineers of R&B Kashmir Division attended the meeting.
The officers informed the Minister that men and machinery have been employed to pace up the works.
Calling upon the concerned for gearing up of their men and machinery, Veeri asked for expediting the pace of work on all key projects so that these could be completed within the set time-frame. He asked the officers to keep people in confidence in taking up projects so that benefits are maximized. He also issued strict instructions to officers to comply with the quality standards.
The engineers of the JKPCC informed the meeting that work is going on all key projects across the Valley which include the buildings of Maternal Hospital Rainawari, Medical College Srinagar, Degree College Zakura, Engineering College Safapore, Mini Secretariat Shopian, Physical Education College Gadoora, Watalbagh Bridge Ganderbal, District Hospital Anantnag, Women College MA Road, Srinagar and several other projects.
The meeting was informed that construction work is also in progress on Fruit Mandi Kupwara, Gujjar Bakerwal Hostel Handwara, Bus Stand Kupwara, PEIC center Handwara and many other buildings under RAMSA.
The meeting was informed that the work is also going-on in full swing on  court complex, wagon bridge, ANM center Balkot and Hajibal, Wagoora bridge, Dak bangalow, school under RAMSA, court complex Sopore, widening of Fruit Mandi road in Baramulla.
The work on construction of Sofi Gund – Chee bridge, Public Health Center Aroo, renovation of court complex Anantnag, Qazigund-Zaldoora pipe culvert and many other major projects is also going-on in Anantnag district.
