Two real brothers killed in road mishap

JAMMU, Oct 9: Two real brothers were killed today when the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a truck on Jammu-Akhnoor road in Dhyaran area of city outskirts.
“The accident happened today at about 2:45 pm when Abdul Hanif (50) and Abdul Hamid (48), both sons of Mohd Iqbal, resident of Mohra Bachai, tehsil Surankote, district Poonch, were on their way to Jammu in an Alto Car bearing registration number JK02AB-8885”, a police spokesman said.
“As the car reached Dhyaran, a speeding truck bearing registration number JK22-8890 coming from opposite side hit their vehicle. The collision of both the vehicles was so strong that both the brothers travelling in the car died on the spot”, he added.
He said their dead bodies were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu, where after conducting postmortem, were handed over to their legal heirs for last rites.
“A case has been registered at police station Kanachak and investigations initiated while a manhunt has been launched to nab the truck driver, who managed to flee from the spot leaving behind the vehicle”, the spokesman further said, adding, the mishap also disrupted vehicular traffic on the busy road for quite sometime and was restored only after clearing both the vehicles from the road.
