Many a letter has been published in these columns daily portraying the extent of rash driving being done in the Jammu city. It’s horrible and disheartening that the concerned authorities and the traffic personnel in particular are not discharging their duties on a very serious note even after the loss of precious lives of innocent commuters and daily passengers caused by the reckless driving of the matador drivers. The Traffic department is least bothered by the daily atrocities being done by these matador drivers in the Jammu City. It has been highly observed that the deadly rash driving is being done mainly on the Bohri Talab Tillo road to the Jewel Chowk route by these mini bus drivers. It’s very agonizing on the part of traffic police that even after observing these matador drivers indulging in rash driving the concerned traffic authorities have been mute spectators. However, these traffic authorities are only concerned about making challans and nothing else. I would to like to appeal to the higher authorities of the Traffic department to enact, and enforce traffic rules and regulations so that untoward incidents can be avoided in the future. Those found violating and not adhering to these traffic rules should be given harsh and rigorous punishment. Then only smooth and clean traffic can be observed in the city of temples.
