BELGRADE, Oct 13: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh called on Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic in his office here today. Vucic has recently been re-elected as Prime Minister for the second term.
Dr Jitendra Singh conveyed the Modi Government’s desire for a mutually healthy and beneficial relationship with Serbia and all the other countries in Central Europe. He observed that India has always shared traditional ties with Serbia as well as with the erstwhile Yugoslavia which was one of the founder members of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
Referring to his current visit, Dr Jitendra Singh said, he has come to Serbia as a representative of the Government headed by Narendra Modi, one of the most popular leaders in the world today, who has been elected as Prime Minister with 2/3rd mandate by the world’s largest democracy of India.
Appreciating Serbia’s expression of support and solidarity with India, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the menace of terrorism is a universal threat and has to be fought collectively.
Dr Jitendra Singh recalled Siberia’s support to the Modi Government’s proposal in the UN for observing 21st June as “International Yoga Day”.
Dr Jitendra Singh extended invitation to Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic to visit India. He also referred to ‘Vibrant Gujarat’ event scheduled to be held in second week of January 2017.
Prime Minister Vucic also extended invitation to Prime Minister Modi to visit Serbia and said, he would personally look forward to it.
