Army refutes police charge

Srinagar, Oct 13: Army today categorically refuted the allegations of police for being involved in an accident Tuesday evening in South Kashmir’s Wanpoh area of Kulgam district.
A defence spokesman said it is clarified that the allegations against the Army are ‘false and baseless’. “It is reiterated that no vehicle of the Army was present in Wanpoh. The FIR registered by Police Station Wanpoh also does not mention involvement of any Army vehicle in the accident,” he said.
Police had said that Owais Ahmed Sheikh of Ghasipora village of Kulgam district was killed after being hit by an Army vehicle. “Any such uncorroborated reporting reflects partisan journalism and is requested to be refrained from,” the defence spokesman added.
