MLA inaugurates 3-week EDP

SAMBA, Oct 15: A three-week training program for 55 aspiring entrepreneurs started at Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), District Centre Samba today.
The three-week Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) under Seed Capital Fund Scheme (SCFS) was inaugurated by MLA Samba, Dr. Davinder Kumar Manyal. District Development Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda and Chief Program Officer JKEDI Dr. Majid Manzoor Khan were present on the occasion.
The EDP modeled for agri-allied, manufacturing and services is a 21-day program in which subject matter specialists from various line departments will be invited to interact with the candidates. The 55 educated unemployed youth including 21 women candidates from various tehsils and blocks of Samba district who had earlier registered for the training program will be imparted training over next 21 days.
Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Manyal called upon youth to take proper advantage of various employment related schemes so that problem of unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir can be addressed. He stressed on more participation of females in the field of entrepreneurship and earn decent livelihood.
In her address, DC Samba while encouraging participants for taking up entrepreneurship as career choice described JKEDI as a complete package for unemployed youth.
Chief Program Officer, JKEDI gave an overview of the J&K economy and role of JKEDI in curbing unemployment.
Earlier, District Nodal Officer Samba, Divya Sharma provided details of the achievements of JKEDI in the district. Syed Asrar Qadri gave the welcome speech while Syed Nazneen Qadri presented the vote of thanks.
