LONDON, Oct 20: Balwant Thakur, Regional Director of Indian Council for Cultural Relations J&K met the Deputy Mayor of London, Rajesh Aggarwal at Jammu Kashmir Festival stall in Trafalgar Square, London.
He was amazed to see the kind of diversity being represented through the cultural group of Natrang Jammu which has come all way from India to showcase the variegated cultural and linguistic variety through the dances of Jammu and Kashmir State.
Fact remains that never before in the history the world audience ever had the occasion to see the real diversity of Jammu and Kashmir State. Natrang Jammu is here in London with a professionally conceived and designed programme ‘Celebrating Diversity’ which offers amazingly vibrant dance traditions representing Kashmiri, Dogri, Ladakhi, Gojri, Pahadi, Balti, and Bhadarwahi regions.
The programme culminated through the presentation of a mega performance ‘Unity in diversity of J&K’, exclusively designed and composed by Padamshree Balwant Thakur.
The artists who are bringing pride to the State are Mohd Yaseen, Rahul Singh, Gauri Thakur, Shazia Batool, Sunny Mujoo, Nikhil Manhas, Ankush Bhasin, Jyoti Kumari, Bindia, Aarti Slathia, Naina Sharma, Saloni Verma Simran Kaur and Rakesh Kumar Kona.
The programmes of Natrang in London are supported by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and are locally hosted by Jammu Kashmir Festival organised by Lakshmi Kaul, Manu Khajuria, and Lalit Sharma.
