NAGROTA, Oct 22: It was virtually a Diwali ahead of Diwali for the people of nine hamlets in Nagrota Assembly Constituency to have a crucial and credible connectivity in terms of a bailey bridge thrown open on Saturday that will not only provide connectivity to 5,000 people but also reduce the distance by 10 kilometer.
The villagers ultimately found most cumbersome and difficult phase over, which caused enormous difficulties to commuters, especially the students after the bailey bridge constructed by the army decades ago in Nadore Panchayat got washed away due to heavy rains last year.
The residents of nine villages– Nadore, Upper Kore Jagir, Lower Kore Jagir, Lower Nadore, Khaleti, Nai Basti,  Tanda, Barser and Kadoi–  shared their moment of gaiety and glory with MLA Nagrota Devender Singh Rana, who has all along been amid them, be it need of hour or the occasion of accomplishment. Otherwise a routine development project, the bailey bridge meant a lot for the residents, who were forced to tread longer distance to reach destination especially during rains, scorching summer heat or in the event of medical emergencies.
Rana congratulated them for having got the facility, saying the day is not far when the entire constituency will find itself empowered in terms of development and economic emancipation. He said he will be striving hard to have his vision of transforming Nagrota as a model extension of greater Nagrota, being its close proximity with the capital city, strategic location on the National Highway and huge potential in terms of tourism and economic importance.
“Encouraged by timely feedback of the people over various projects and programmes as also their urge for development, we have redoubled our efforts to purse the executing agencies to have projects of immense public importance on war footing”, he said and hoped the public support will be forthcoming in future as well.
Rana, who is also Provincial President of National Conference, while interacting with the locals, especially youngsters, called for their whole-hearted support in steering the constituency to a new era of progress and development.
“A sound basis has already been laid and now the vision is to be translated into reality”, he said and exuded confidence about getting whole-hearted support from the developmental departments in this regard.
