JAMMU, Oct 23: President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC), Subash Shastri today urged the Chief Minister (CM) Mehbooba Mufti to take up the issue of implementation of 7th Pay Commission in favor of employees and pensioners in Jammu and Kashmir and regularization of the services of 61,000 daily rated workers with the Prime Minister (PM).
Addressing a largely attended workers’ meet here, NMC president, Subhash Shastri said since many States especially J&K is going through dire financial crises, PM should make special provision so as to ward off any imbalance created on account of 7th Pay Commission fallout and fulfilling the commitment made by top brass of BJP leadership during parliamentary and J&K assembly election for regularization of 61,000 daily rated workers if the party voted to power.
Shastri pointed out that delay in implementation of the Pay Commission report result in pilling up of the dues and arrears and their subsequent payment to the employees and pensioners runs into bad taste and wastage of time apart from complicating the issue.
While appreciating the polices and pro people programs of the Chief Minister, Shastri hoped that this time the benefits of 7th Pay Commission will be provided to the salaried class and pensioners without any struggle unlike past practice of providing the same after protest by employees.
Stressing on the need to enhance the wages of daily rated workers to Rs 350, which has already been approved by the Central Government as minimum wage rate, Shastri said that it is difficult for the daily rated workers to cope up with the hiking prices of essential commodities and enhancement of their wages at par with Centre is a need of the hour.
