Workshop on CBCS organized for Principals at JU

JAMMU, Oct 24: The Directorate of College Development Council, University of Jammu (JU) today organized a one day workshop for all the Principals of Government and Non Government Degree Colleges affiliated to the University to discuss issues and problems faced by them during switching to Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) scheme of examination.
The workshop was attended by 45 principals/senior faculty of Degree Colleges and was presided over by Prof Deshbandhu Gupta, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu.
Dr Meenakshi Kilam, Director, DIQA, Prof Neeru Sharma, HOD, Home Science and Prof Rahul Gupta, HOD, Statistics were the keynote speakers of the interactive session.
Dr Meenakshi Kilam gave an insight into the aims and objectives of the Choice Based Credit System and stressed that CBCS is a student/learner centric scheme. She emphasized though the University is in its initial stage of adopting the scheme, University will put all efforts to achieve the objective of making education system learner, learning and learning outcomes oriented.
Prof Rahul Gupta gave a power point presentation about the scheme and statutes of Choice Based Credit System and tried to explain all its aspects. He along with Prof Neeru Sharma cleared doubts on various issues put forth by the principals and ensured that the matter regarding uniformity of credit and paper setting would be taken up at appropriate forums.
Prof Ajeet Angral, said that this workshop was very much needed as the new system requires continuous discussion/ interactions for its implementation.
The workshop concluded with vote of thanks by Jai Kumar Sharma, Director, CDC.
