Central Govt organizations observe Vigilance awareness week

JAMMU, Nov 4: The Central Government organizations, universities and other Government as well as semi-Government bodies across India observed Vigilance Awareness Week-2016 from October 31- November 5. This year “Public participation in promoting integrity and eradicating Corruption” is the theme of Vigilance Awareness Week.
In connection with the Week, Central University of Jammu today organized a programme for the benefits of its faculty officer, staff, students and members of the civil society. Kuldeep Khoda, the Chief Vigilance Commissioner and former DGP of J&K, was chief guest on the occasion while Jammu University Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma, presided over the programme, which was organized by Dr S K Sharma, Professor of Swami Vivekananda Chair and Chief Vigilance Officer of CUJ.
Speaking on the occasion, Kuldeep Khoda laid stress on the integrity, duties and responsibilities of citizens and professionals in various fields. He asked the law enforcement agencies to take into consideration the international corruption which has gone up and accepted by the youth.
Dr S K Sharma highlighted the importance of observance of Vigilance Awareness Week in sensitization of the society. Prof Lokesh Verma, Academic Coordinator of CUJ, presented the formal vote of thanks while Dr Shivetembri conducted proceedings of the programme.
Power Grid Corporation of India observed Vigilance Awareness Week in its all offices falling under Northern Region Transmission System-II. During the Week, several programmes were organized in various schools and colleges apart from site offices.
On the concluding day, a seminar on “Moral values, Ethics and Good governance practices” was organized in which Dr Ashok Bhan, Ex- Director General of Police was chief guest. Anil Jain, Executive Director POWERGRID Northern Region-II, S D Joshi, GM (Projects), R V S Kushwaha GM (AM) also graced the occasion. All the employees posted at Regional Headquaters of POWERGRID alongwith their family members were present on this occasion
Dr Ashok Bhan, in his presentation, gave detailed insight into “Desirable Citizen – Centric Model” He emphasized on the fact that there must be transparency in our actions and we must interpret rules to benefit the needy and deserving and not harass them.
Anil Jain, in his address, outlined various steps being taken by POWERGRID in dealing with the menace of corruption. At the end of the seminar, prizes were distributed to the winners of the various competitions. The vote of thanks was presented by R Narayan, Chief Manager(HR).
Earlier, a road show was also organized by POWERGRID near its Regional Head Quarters at Bahu Plaza wherein public awareness on various facets of Integrity and honesty and evils of corruption was given to the general public. Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Simrandeep Singh was the chief guest on this occasion.
CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine organized a series of programme like debates, panel discussions, essay writing and slogans, poster competitions, quiz and guest lecturers on Vigilance awareness and eradication of corruption.
On sixth day of the week-long celebrations, CSIR-IIIM today organized an impressive programme in which Amit Gupta, SSP Vigilance Jammu, was the chief guest. This function was also attended by all Scientific, Technical and administrative staff of the institute. Dr Ram Vishwarkarma, Director IIIM, Jammu, is his address, said that it is high time for the whole staff to learn the official procedures and rules for the efficient and transparent working in different departments like administration, procurement, construction and finance.
On the occasion, the chief guest distributed prizes among the winners of different events, organized by the institution during last week.
Airports Authority of India, Civil Airport Jammu, observed Vigilance Awareness Week and during the period, pamphlets were distributed among the passengers for creating awareness for public participation in promoting Integrity and eradicating corruption. Several posters and banners were displayed in the airport premises and feedback from the passengers about the services provided at the airport also obtained.
Several competitions and workshop were also organized during the week. J P Mishra, SP CBI, was the chief guest for the closing ceremony. Javed Anjum, Officiating Airport Director, emphasized on commitment to uphold high standards of honesty and integrity to support the fight against corruption.
Vigilance Awareness Week was also observed by IDBI Bank Ltd. Besides administering Vigilance Pledge to the Bank’s staff members and bringing out a Special Journal by the Bank’s Vigilance Department, talks by eminent guest speakers and various competitions on the theme related topics were conducted, not only among the staff members, but also for participation of students of schools, colleges and educational institutions. Awareness Gram Sabhas, Integrity Pledges, Grievance Redressal Camps and other such outreach activities were organized throughout the Bank with zeal and enthusiasm.
The Jammu Women Credit Cooperative Limited, with all its branches, celebrated the Vigilance awareness Week by organizing programme in collaboration with NABARD. Vijay Kumar, Chief General Manager NABARD Jammu, was chief guest on the occasion. A pledge was taken by all the women members and employees of the society to fight against corruption.
Chairperson JWCCL, Kailash Verma made the chief guest aware about working of the society . Deputy GM NABARD Jammu, Kamlesh Kumar, Geeta Singh, Vikas Dogra and others were present on the occasion.
Punjab and Sind Bank, Gumat branch, organized a Vigilance Awareness Camp at MC Khalsa High School. During the camp, an essay writing competition on the subject ` Corruption & its Remedies’ was held to propogate a general concern to end the menace.
Karan Singh, Branch Manager of Punjab & Sind Bank, Gummat Branch and S Dalbir Singh, Principal of the MC Khalsa High School, spoke on the occasion and appealed the students to be ambassadors of anti-corruption campaign.
In connection with Vigilance Awareness Week, Punjab National Bank organized an awareness programme at BBN School of Intellectuals, Vijaypur. On the occasion, an essay writing competition was organized and prizes were distributed among the winners.
In this programme, Senior Manager Jagdish Raj, ASH Manager, Vijaypur Branch, Rameshwar Sharma and Director of BBN School of intellectuals, Dimple Sharma were present.
