Citizenship rights to dominate West Pak refugees convention

SAMBA, Nov 4: To highlight their demand of permanent settlement in the State with grant of citizenship rights, the West Pak Refugees Action Committee is organizing a one day convention at Sawankha More near Vijaypur on November 6.
This was stated by the president of Action Committee Labha Ram Gandhi while talking to reporters at Vijaypur today along with other office bearers of his organization.
He said the BJP Ministers have also been invited in the convention and the Party will be asked to clear its stand on the issue of the citizenship rights to the refugees. He said some demands were included in the Common Minimum Programme of BJP-PDP by the Party and the ministers will be asked that what kind of progress has been made on the same till date.
Gandhi said that the West Pak refugees took shelter in Jammu after their forced exodus from Pakistan in 1947 and since then they have been deprived of their rights especially the grant of State Subject right.
He also made an appeal to all West Pak refugees to participate in the convention.
Others present in the press conference included Sukhdev Singh Manhas vice president of the Committee, Ramesh Saini, Capt (retd) Bishamber Singh, Sukhdev Raj, Rakesh Bawa, Darshan Lal, Tarseem Lal, Mulkh Raj and Sat Paul.
