JAMMU, Nov 4: The 25th death anniversary of Shriman 108 Mahant Bachitter Singh Ji was observed at Gurudwara Digiana Ashram under the supervision of Mahant Manjit Singh Ji of Shiromani Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch.
Many ragies, preachers and leaders of various Sikh organizations of J&K included Sikh United Front J&K, Bhai Kanahiya Jee Nishkam Seva Society, All India Student Sikh Federation, Elected Members of DGPC Jammu, Sikh Welfare Society, Sikh Nojawan Sabha, Local Gurdwara Committee and political organizations participated and remembered the achievements regarding the religion grounds and threw on the life of Mahant Bachitter Singh.
The speakers S Rangil Singh, former Minister and senior vice president PDP, S Sudershan Singh Wazir president, Sikh United Front and ex-president SGPB and Raman Bhalla ex-Minister said that Mahant ji took the charge of their Gaddi (Post) in 1946. Immediately after that in 1947 the partition took place and many people migrated from PoK to Jammu and the Gurudwara Dera Nangali Sahib was also burnt by the miscreants. The Mahant Ji by their hard work constructed the Dera Nangali Sahib in Poonch and tried his best to rehabilitate the migrant refugees of PoK at various camps in Jammu. Mahant ji also did many efforts for preaching and spreading Sikhism in the State in far flung areas and also constructed a boarding house at Chand Nagar where many poor boys resided to obtain studies. He also constructed a beautiful Gurudwara, rest house and Technical Ashram at Digiana Jammu where many orphan and poor children learn religious education like Tabla, Harmonium, and holy training of ragies and granthies is also given.
While addressing the religious gathering Mahant Manjit Singh Ji, present Chief of Dera Nangali Sahib also highlighted the selfless services of Mahant Bachitter Singh Ji who served the Sikh community and also humanity for 45 years.
Various prominent persons also participated who included S Dharbinder Singh, S Ramnik Singh, S Raja Singh and S Fateh Singh, Members of DGPC Jammu. The leaders of various Sikh organizations also participated They included S Surinder Singh Kala Convenor J&K Motor Transport Company Association Jammu, S Mohinder Singh, S Paramjit Singh S Gajan Singh, S Manmohan Singh, S Rajinder Singh, S Paramjeet Singh Raina Ex Corporator, Harpal Singh Prince, Surjeet Singh Kuku, S TP Singh and S Kultar Singh.
