Sister Sledge approached to create musical

LONDON, Nov 6: Musical group Sister Sledge are considering turning their greatest hits into a musical.

The ’70s disco icons have enjoyed enduring success thanks to dance floor classics like We Are Family and He’s the Greatest Dancer.

The group, made up of sisters Joni, Debbie and Kim Sledge, have teased they could soon follow in the footsteps of bands like ABBA and Queen by having their music featured in a stage musical, reported Contactmusic.

“We recently got approached by someone in Chicago about doing a girl’s group musical, and I think that is fantastic,” Joni said.

Debbie said that they’d love to see their music performed in London’s West End too.

The British capital currently has a slew of stage hits that feature chart music, including ABBA’s “Mamma Mia!”, Carole King-inspired musical “Beautiful” and Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”

“London is such a special place, it’s like our second home. I come here and I want clotted cream and a scone and fish and chips. The people are so warm. We have so many friends here, it’s like family,” Kim said.

Youngest sister Kathy was also originally part of the group but no long performs with her siblings. (PTI)
