AIJM president takes stock of border people’s grievances

SAMBA, Nov 6: President of All India Jat Mahasabha (AIJM), J&K, Ch Manmohan Singh today toured several border villages of Ramgarh sector and took stock of the grievances of the people affected with border firing.
Accompanied by Jat leaders, Ch Sham Lal, Gopal Sandhu, Ch Rashpal Singh, Ch Surjeet Singh, Mohan Singh Bhatti, Ch Rakesh, Ch Darshan and Ch Raj Kumar, Ch Manmohan Singh visited villages, Rangoor, Chak Babrial, Nangah, Jerada and Swankha migrant camp and interacted with the local people.
While addressing the people at many villages, Singh said, “Loss of cattle and agricultural lands was a huge loss but innocent kids dying due to border firing is too much to bear for anyone. Border situation has gone from bad to worse in no time and these border area residents are the bearers of the repercussions”.
Stating that attempts to retaliate cease fire violations of Pakistan and surgical strikes done by Indian Army is very commendable but the consequences of these are faced by these people alone, Singh said that such losses cannot be covered and it is the responsibility of the Government and authorities to think about border residents in this situation and to formulate measures to prevent this kind of bloodbath and cover the losses incurred on these people during firing.
He sought treatment of the injured people in border firing on Government’s expenses besides a minimum compensation of Rs 50000 per animal for those lost their livestock in border firing.
He also demanded monetary compensation for injured and those permanently handicapped and a minimum of Rs 5 lakh per person for a family who lost their kin along with the provision of criteria free Government job for one member of the family.
