Girls education vital for society’s progress, prosperity: Kohli

Rajouri, Nov 6: Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Abdul Ghani Kohli today said that education of girl child is very important for the development of the society and unless the goal of hundred percent female literacy rate is achieved it would not be possible to transform the society on positive lines.
The Minister was addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone of girls hostel at Kalakote to constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 2.82 crore.
He said that women should be given a conducive environment to grow and seek quality education, adding that an educated woman has the skills, information and self-confidence with which she can further contribute in the positive growth of the society.
The Minister said that education sector has undergone tremendous positive change and many new initiatives have been taken up by the Government to streamline this department. “In order to facilitate the girl students the Government is constructing girls hostel  in all the educationally backward blocks of the State so that the poor girls do not stop their education because of the lack of hostel facility”, he said.
Stressing upon the need for the timely completion of the developmental works, the Minister asked the executive agencies to gear up their men and machinery so that the developmental projects could be completed well it time and the benefit of these projects could percolate to  people of the area.
