130 bags ration seized, mill owner held

JAMMU, Nov 6: Police today sealed a flour mill at Battal Baliyan in Udhampur district and recovered 130 bags flour of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, which had been smuggled into the mill illegally in connivance with the Department officials.
Additional SP Udhampur ML Kaith told the Excelsior that Mahajan Flour Mill, owned by Anil Mahajan of Udhampur was raided by a police team of Udhampur police station this evening on a tip off.
From the mill, Kaith said, police recovered 1300 bags flour, weighing 50 kgs each, which belonged to the Food, Civil supplies Department but had been smuggled to the mill in nexus between Department officials and the mill owner.
The flour mill has been sealed and all 1300 bags seized, the SP Udhampur said, adding further investigations have been taken up.
Police parties in the raid were led by DySP Udhampur SS Bloeria and SHO Udhampur OP Chib.
A case against the accused has been registered at Udhampur police station.
