Excise sleuths seize 108 bottles of liquor

Kathua, Nov 7: The Excise Department Jammu has tightened its noose on violators of the various provisions of the J&K Excise Act in entire Jammu division.
In order to curb the menace of smuggling of Liquor from outside the State under the direction of Excise Commissioner T. Angchuk and under the active supervision of the Deputy Excise Commissioner Toll Post Lakhanpur, Rajesh Sharma and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Mohammed Shahid Saleem, the Excise Team Kathua under the command of Excise and Taxation Officer, Excise Range Kathua, Sandeep Gupta and Task Force officials of Toll post Lakhanpur laid naka. During the course of naka a Swift vdi car, bearing registration number JK08C-4726 was intercepted and after checking found 108 bottles of whisky meant for sale in Punjab from the driver of vehicle namely Amit Sharma s/o Shashi pal Sharma R/o Marheen, Tehsil Hiranagar, District Kathua was recovered. He was arrested under various sections of J&K Excise Act 1958.
