Dilbagh Gang associates arrested with shotguns, sharp edged weapon, heroin

JAMMU, Nov 9: Chatha police foiled a murder plot by arresting four associates of Dilbagh Gang and recovering two shotguns, one sharp edged weapon (toka) and 30 grams heroin from their possession.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Chatha police post laid a naka and signaled two motorcycles to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the riders accelerated the bikes and escaped from the spot. Smelling something fishy, the cops chased the motorcycles and intercepted them near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 2 shotguns, one sharp edged weapon (toka) and 30 grams heroin from the possession of the four persons riding on the motorcycles and arrested them.
The accused have been identified as Pawan Kumar alias Depu, son of Ashok Kumar, a resident of Ward Number 2, Bhour Camp, Gurpreet Singh alias Sonu, son of Harpal Singh of Chatha Mill, Simranjot, son of Daljit Singh of Chatha Pind and Paramjeet Singh alias Jangi, son of Devi Dayal, a resident of tehsil RS Pura.
During preliminary enquiry, it came to fore that the arrested belonged to Dilbag Gang. The gang is being headed by Dilbagh Singh, son of Janak Singh, a resident of Simbal Camp, who was booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) and is presently in jail.
Dilbagh gang, which is active in J&K State since 2009 is involved in various criminal cases registered with different police stations in J&K and Guwahati. Various types of criminal cases including attempt to murder cases stand registered against the members of the gang.
The arrested accused persons were on their way to eliminate their rivals, but police foiled their bid by arresting them.
A case under FIR Number 224/16 under NDPS Act and Arms Act has been registered against the accused at Satwari police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Satwari Inspector Manjeet Singh and assisted by Incharge Chatha police post SI Sandeep Charak made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Sachin Gupta and SP South Shaazad Salaria.
