JAMMU, Nov 10: Provi-ding better road connectivity to the people of the State is the priority of the Government and various new road and bridge construction works have been started by the Government to connect rural areas of the state with main city.
Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary said this after inaugurating double lane steel plate Girder Bridge over Main Ranbir Canal at BSF camp Paloura.
Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Shamsher Singh Manhas, MLA Jammu West constituency Sat Sharma, BSF DIG Ram Avtar, Chief Engineer PHE Susheel Aima, Chief Engineer I&FC Rajeev Gandotra, Chief Engineer Ravi-Tawi Irrigation Complex HC Jerath and other offices of the department were also present on the occasion.
While addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the bridge will reduce traffic jam, travel time and make the journey comfortable for BSF personnel including the people living in Marh and vicinity of BSF camp Paloura.
Meanwhile, MP Shamsher Singh Manhas said that the main road witnesses huge traffic jams and long traffic snarls at peak times of the day. This new bridge will reduce traffic jams to a large extent and people will definitely get benefitted by this public asset, he added.
