SRINAGAR, Oct 5: Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik today informed the House that land measuring 76 kanals-10 marlas situated in village Bankote, Banihal has been identified / approved for the construction of Government Degree College (GDC), Banihal. The revenue papers have been authenticated and the indent has been placed with the Deputy Commissioner, Ramban for acquisition of the land for establishment of the college.
Replying to a Calling Attention Notice of Vikar Rasool about delay caused in construction of Degree College building Banihal, the Minister said that the department has already placed Rs 250 lakh with the Deputy Commissioner, Ramban for the purpose.
He said the Deputy Commissioner, Ramban has been directed to intimate rate of land per kanal notified in respect of the area by his office under the Stamp Act for the year 2012, so that Government could determine the true value of the land. But Deputy Commissioner has not replied so far. The department had placed the indent for acquisition of land under the Land Acquisition.
Regarding shortage of class rooms, the Minister said that since the construction of adequate infrastructure for establishing a modern colleges takes time, the department has arranged three rooms of Higher Secondary School, Banihal in which one room is being used as office, one for library and one for class room.
He said in addition to this the department has constructed three pre-fabricated huts at cost of Rs 42.50 lakh which also include construction of approach road and levelling of ground for construction of these three huts in which the classes are being held smoothly.
