JAMMU, Nov 11: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today referred Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s move of demonetization of high value notes as a “ground-breaking move” against black money in the country.
The Minister said this during an awareness symposium, “consumer awareness and safety of LPG,” held at Government Degree College for Women in Gandhi Nagar.
Attributing the demonetization move as a master stroke, Zulfkar Ali said that the move is a ground-breaking decision from the PM against black money floating across the country.
Appreciating the timing and way the move was carried out, Minister said that one cannot help, but praise the PM for executing the whole process so clandestinely that people having black money didn’t even get any opportunity to save their skin.
He added that people possessing black money were running their own system that was working parallel to the main system and it needed to be curtailed immediately. He said the move was welcomed by one and all, especially those who were paying their taxes on time.
Speaking about the awareness programme, Zulfkar said that the department started awareness campaign from last month and its main aim is to educate and make people in general and consumers in particular aware with their rights, laws, and other related issues.
The Minister said that the Government is doing its bit by making laws, rule and regulations. He said, “if someone thinks a society could be corrected by law enforcement agencies alone, then it is a misconception, as it is not possible. If the society has to be cleansed then people within society have to work for it, and it could be started by making them aware with their rights and entitlements”.
Earlier, Director FCS&CA, G S Chib highlighted the importance of holding the awareness camps.
Besides, Drug Controller, Lotika Khajuria, Director Bureau of Indian Standard, H S Sindhu, President Chamber of Traders Federation, Neeraj Anand, President Chamber of Commerce, Rakesh Gupta, representative from oil company, Anees, also spoke on the occasion.
