Two held with 17 bovine animals

JAMMU, Nov 11: Akhnoor police today arrested two persons and rescued 17 bovine animals from their possession.
“During Naka checking at Chowki Choura this evening, a truck bearing registration number JK12A-4185 loaded with bovine animals was signaled to stop by the police but the driver of the truck did not stop and fled away from the Naka”, a police spokesman said.
He said, however, the police party at Naka point chased the truck and managed to stop it at some distance. “On checking of the vehicle, police found 17 bovine animals loaded in the truck, which the driver and his accomplice were smuggling to adjoining district”, the spokesman said, adding, the driver identified as Rakesh Kumar son of Suraj Parkash, resident of Jakhani, district Udhampur and alleged smuggler namely Mohd Freed son of Mohd Shafi resident of Basat, Chenani (Udhampur), were arrested on the spot.
He said that a case FIR No 161/2016 under Sections 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at police station Akhnoor. The arrest was made by a police team led by SHO Akhnoor, Inspector Pushpinder under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor, Gurvinder Pal Singh and SP Rural, Arun Gupta.
