Jewellers shutdown shops

JAMMU, Nov 12: To extend their contribution to curb the menace of black money, jewellers across Jammu Province shutdown their shops and will continue it till tomorrow.
The decision to shut down the shops was taken in a meeting of Sarafa Association and Swarnkar Sangh Joint Action Committee, which was held today morning.
In the meeting, President of Swarnkar Sangh Jammu Province Raj Kumar Babbar, President of Sarafa Association Jammu Parjan Kumar Jain, President of Swarnkar Sangh Jammu District Kulbhushan Anand, General Secretary Sarafa Association Jammu Vijay Verma, General Secretary Swarnkar Sangh Jammu District Ajay Vaid and executive members of Sarafa Association and Swarnkar Sangh Jammu took part.
Chairman of Sarafa Association and Swarnkar Sangh Joint Action Committee Jammu Province, Raman Suri while talking to Excelsior said that it was unanimously decided in the meeting that a jeweller will neither accept nor transact business in the Old High Denomination (OHD) notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000.
“If there will be enough new currency available with the public to carry out the transactions, only then the jewellery market will be opened on November 14, otherwise this closure may be extended till there will be enough new currency notes available to the people”, Suri asserted.
