JAMMU, Nov 12: A total of 24854 cases were disposed off in the National Lok Adalats.
As per the statement issued by RN Watal, Member Secretary J&K SLSA, National Lok Adalats were held across the State at High Court, District and Tehsil level under the patronage of Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar, Chief Justice, High Court of J&K and Patron-in-Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority and under the guidance of Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Judge, High Court of J&K and Executive Chairman, J&K State Legal Services Authority.
A total of 24854 cases were disposed-off in the National Lok Adalats, which included 278 MACT cases wherein amount of Rs, 12.84 Crore was awarded as compensation and in 671 bank cases, approximately Rs 10.51 crore was recovered.
At High Court Wing Jammu, two benches were constituted to deal with the cases in the Lok Adalat. One bench was headed by Justice Bansi Lal Bhat (Retd) and assisted by Sanjay Dhar and Mohammad Akram Chowdhary, District and Sessions Judges, while second bench was headed by Justice OP Sharma (Retd) and assisted by RK Wattal, and Sanjeev Gupta, District and Sessions Judges.
Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar, Patron-in-Chief J&K SLSA accompanied by Justice Aloke Arade, inspected the National Lok Adalats at High Court Wing Jammu and District Court Complex Jammu, and gave the compensation cheques to the victims of motor accident.
At High Court Wing Srinagar, the National Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir Executive Chairman J&K SLSA in presence of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Chairman High Court Legal Services Committee. In the Srinagar Wing of High Court only one bench was constituted which was headed by Justice Hasnain Massodi (Retd) and assisted by Yaspal Bourney and Shyam Lal, District and Sessions Judges. The Executive Chairman also gave the compensation cheques to the victims of motor accident.
RAMBAN: First National Lok Adalat was held at Chief Justice of India (CJI) home town at Ukhral Ramban, which was presided over by Prem Sagar, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Ukhral. The bench was presided over by Prem Sagar, JMIC Ukhral and assisted by Tehsildar Ukhral. The bench decided 4 criminal compoundable cases and disposed-off 20 traffic challans. The compounding money of rupees Rs 5300 was realised in the said Lok Adalat. Large number of persons including SHO Ramsoo and Incharge Ukhral police police were present on the occasion. People were made aware of different schemes launched by National Legal Services Authority and benefits of Lok Adalats. A National Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Sh. Yahaya Fardous (CJM), Incharge District Chairman Legal Services Authority, District Ramban. Various Benches were constituted across the district to deal with different types of cases. A total of 990 cases of various nature were taken up for settlement among which 695 were settled amicably and an amount of Rs 26,34,000 was awarded to various claimants, beside fine of Rs 2,47,970 was imposed.
SAMBA: A Lok Adalat was held in the District Court Complex here under the chairmanship of ML Manhas, Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Sessions Judge in collaboration with Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Sub Judge Samba, Deepak Sethi. Three benches were constituted. First bench was headed by Chairman DLSA Samba and assisted by Swati Gupta Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Samba, Sunaina Gupta and Vishal Sharma Advocates (Retainer Lawyers) to deal with MACT, civil cases (bank matters), pre litigation, family matters and criminal cases. Second bench was headed by Sub-Judge Samba and assisted by Shabnam Sheikh, Munsiff Samba and Bushal Lal Verma Advocate (Retainer Lawyer) to deal with all types of cases of courts of CJM, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Munsiff and Additional Munsiff Samba including 4 civil cases of Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Samba. Third bench was headed by Junaid Imtiyaz Mir, Additional Munsiff Samba and assisted by Vijay Kumar Advocate (Retainer Lawyer) to deal with cases of traffic, electricity ARTO, revenue and PHE in the court of Additional Munsiff Samba. A total of 2726 were taken up, out of which 2543 cases were settled and a total amount of Rs 1,23,69,978 was settled.
UDHAMPUR: A National Lok Adalat was held here under the chairmanship of KS Parihar, Principal, District and Sessions Judge. Seven benches were constituted. The first bench was headed by KS Parihar, Principal, District and Sessions Judge and Anjana Rajput, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, second bench was headed by Sonia Gupta, Additional District and Sessions Judge and Parveen Pandoh, District Judicial Mobile Magistrate (Traffic), third bench was headed by Rajni Sharma, Sub Judge, Special Mobile Magistrate and Sushil Singh, Munsiff JMIC, fourth bench was headed by Renu Dogra, Sub Judge Ramnagar, Ramesh Singh Tehsildar Ramnagar and Deepak Dingra, SDPO Ramnagar, fifth bench was headed by Irfan Parvez, SHO Ramnagar, Mohammad Arif Tak, Naib Tehsildar Ramnagar and Advocate SK Gupta, sixth bench was headed by Sumati Sharma, Munsiff Chenani and seventh bench was headed by Touseef Ahmed Magray, Munsiff JMIC Majalta and Ved Parkash, Tehsildar Majalta. A total of 2502 cases of different nature were settled and an amount of Rs 3,24,122,82 was settled. A National Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Sumati Sharma, Munsiff (JMIC) Chenani, in Court Complex, Chenani. In the Lok Adalat, 20 criminal cases and 2 matrimonial cases were decided amicably. Besides this, 111 traffic challans were also disposed off and a total fine of Rs 62350 was realized on spot. 17 electricity bill cases were also decided amicably at pre-litigation stage.
BHADERWAH: National Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of MK Sharma, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Bhaderwah. The Lok Adalats comprised of 8 benches in which various criminal compoundable matters, MACT cases, cases under NI Act, matrimonial cases, civil cases, cases under MNREGA and cases pertaining to public utilities pending before different courts at Bhaderwah, Doda and Thathri and also pre-litgation cases were taken up for amicable settlement. A total of 798 cases were taken up, out of which 302 cases were disposed and an amount of Rs 384599 was recovered as fine on spot. An amount of Rs 1,35,29,939 was awarded as compensation in MACT cases and an amount of Rs 20,95,747 was settled in bank recovery cases.
REASI: District Legal Services Authority under the chairmanship of SR Gandhi, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Sessions Judge organized National Lok Adalat for settlement of various types of cases. In National Lok Adalat, 928 cases were taken up, out of which 620 cases were settled and compoundable fine of Rs 73,900 was recovered on spot and award for Rs 21,35,983 was passed in recovery matters. Two benches of National Lok Adalat for settlement of referred cases were constituted. First bench was presided over by Kamlesh Pandita, CJM (Sub-Judge), Reasi, who was assisted by Jyoti Bhagat, Munsiff/JMIC, Reasi, while the second bench was presided over by Sandeep Gandotra, JMIC/Sub-Judge, Katra, who was assisted by Dinesh Gupta, Munsiff/JMIC, Katra.
RAJOURI: A National Lok Adalat was held at District Court Complex, here under the chairmanship of Inder Singh, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Principal, District and Sessions Judge Rajouri. Four benches were constituted on the occasion. First bench was headed by Inder Singh, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority and assisted by Rajinder Sapru, Additional District and Sessions Judge and Advocate HN Mirza, second bench was headed by Mehmood Chodhary, CJM and assisted by Naushad Ahmad Khan, Special Mobile Magistrate and Advocate Junaid Hussain, third bench was headed by Sarafraz Nawaz, District Mobile Magistrate and assisted by ARTO Rajouri and Advocate Khaliq Firdous and fourth bench was headed by Tehsildar Rajouri and assisted by Advocate Inderjeet Singh. Similar benches were also constituted at Tehsil level, which were headed by the presiding officers of the respective courts. A total of 1816 cases were taken up, out of which 1684 cases were disposed-off. An amount of Rs 78,15000 was settled in MACT cases, Rs 65400 in pre-litigation cases, Rs 164250 was realized as judicial fine in traffic challan cases.
KATHUA: National Lok Adalat was held in the District Court Complex under the chairmanship of Vinod Chatterji Koul, Chairman, District legal Services Authority. Three benches were constituted on the occasion. The first bench comprised of Vinod Chatterji Koul, Principal, District and Sessions Judge, Amarjeet Singh Langeh, CJM Kathua and Ramit Jasrotia, Retainer Lawyer DLSA Kathua, the second bench comprised of SC Katal, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Munish Kumar Manhas, District Mobile Magistrate and Sunita Devi, Retainer Lawyer TLSC Kathua and the third bench comprised of Sunil Sangra, Special Mobile Magistrate Kathua and Mandeep Singh, Retainder lawyer, TLSC Kathua. A total of 1265 cases were taken up, out of which 840 cases were disposed-off. Compensation worth Rs 1,27,48,900 was awarded. Similarly in electricity cases, dues worth Rs 8459500 were recovered. Compound money of Rs 19000 was also recovered.
LEH: National Lok Adalats were organized at Leh, Nobra and Khaltsi by District Legal Services Authority under the supervision of Khalil Choudhary, Principal District and Sessions Judge Leh who is also Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority Leh. A bench comprising of Khalil Choudhary and Spalzes Angmo, Chief Judicial Magistrate Leh held a Lok Adalat at District Court Complex wherein 485 cases of different nature were taken up and out of which 373 cases were amicably settled and Rs 3,07,712 was recovered as compensation and fine. At Nobra, National Lok Adalat was held at Munsiff Court Complex under the chairmanship of Phunstsog Angmo, wherein 84 cases of different nature were taken up, out of which 79 cases were amicably settled and fine of Rs 66,899 was also received. A Lok Adalat which was presided over by Munsiff Khaltsi Chemet Yurgyal was held at Munsiff Court Khaltsi wherein 31 cases of different nature were taken up, out of which 17 cases were amicably settled and amount of Rs 5100 was received as fine.
