SRINAGAR, Nov 13: The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today said that war, gun and stone is no solution to Kashmir issue and the dialogue is the only way out to resolve it.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of party convention at its headquarters, the PDP General Secretary, Muhammad Sartaj Madani, said dialogue is the only solution of vexed Kashmir issue. “It was Mufti Sayeed’s vision that not war, gun and even stone is solution but issues should be resolved through dialogue. If any issue has to be resolved, dialogue is the way and we want to take that mission forward,” he added.
He said that they want to get people of the J&K out of the present uncertain situation in a dignified manner. We have a political party and it is our task to give people of Jammu and Kashmir a dignified and peaceful life,” he added.
The senior PDP leader said that huge numbers of people are attending rallies of PDP and they want beginning of a political process. “They want resolution of issues through a political process,” he said. Pitching for an open debate over the damages to the education sector, he expressed hope that saner elements in the society should unanimously raise their voices so that the society is ultimately geared up for some kind of realism.
He said that not Government or police but it is the responsibility of the parents to ensure that their children go and sit down in Board examinations. “The role of parents is important… the education is most important and the Holy Quran has also made it mandatory for everyone,” he said.
Earlier, at an impressive day long convention of workers from the central Kashmir here, the party said that the agenda of PDP incorporates the answer to the political, economic and social crisis that has taken a heavy toll on the State during the present spell of uncertainty and ever since the partition.
The party called upon the stakeholders to focus on political means and through the medium of well-established democratic institutions to wriggle the State out from the brink of abyss. Senior party leader and Member of Parliament, Muzaffar Hussain Baig said that the party will not be cowed down by any nefarious designs aimed at our economic subjugation, degradation of ethics and values.
Lamenting over the huge losses suffered by the younger generation and teenagers as a result of protests, Baig implored all the stakeholders for an honest appraisal to fix the responsibility for the present uncertainty. “Losses to economic sector, trade and tourism are virtually irretrievable and someone will have to account for it. Misery and agony has been forced upon people due to the political short-sightedness of the detractors of this society,” he added.
In his address to the convention, senior party leader, Nizamuddin Bhat hailed efforts of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for trying to restore friendly relations with Pakistan. “The present acrimonious atmosphere will end soon to allow the alliance to take forward the set objectives for a better future and political stability in the region,” Bhat asserted.
He said the emergence of the PDP has changed the political discourse in the entire South Asian region and the party will continue with its efforts for building an atmosphere of peace, economic and political stability.

In the meantime, during his extensive tour to Khiram, Vidhay and Nowshehra in Bijbihara Constituency, the party senior leader and chief coordinator South Kashmir Mufti Sajjad Hussain said that PDP has a proven track record of creating an enabling environment for the promotion of businesses, commerce, tourism and creating avenues of meaningful and respectable employment opportunities for educated youth in the State.
Mufti Sajjad said while the state of Jammu and Kashmir is faced with many challenges, the Government headed by Mehbooba Mufti is working on series of reformative measures to empower the people of the State as was done by late Mufti Mohammed Sayeed.
He urged upon the party workers to reach out to people for a meaningful process which holds the promise for a liberal initiative, pragmatism and all possible help in the rebuilding of the agenda of development and dialogue. He made a fervent appeal to the younger generation in particular to join hands for a new beginning away from dismay and distrust.
He hoped that peace will soon return through various endeavors including the resolution of all issues and these dreams of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed will hopefully become possible.
