JAMMU, Nov 13: The birthday of first Prime Minister of India Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru popularly known as Children’s Day was celebrated by educational institutions.
DBN Vidya Mandir Schools celebrated Children’s Day by organizing Bal Mela. VK Nanda, Retd CEO was the chief guest. A cultural programme was presented by the children. Food stalls were also the main attraction of the Bal Mela. Yash Puri, Advisor to the institution, Rajendra Kakkar, Manager, DBN Trust, members of the management committee, Principals Indu Puri, Neelam Sabharwal and Parveena Jha, parents and teachers were also present on the occasion.
To celebrate Children’s Day, Stephens International Public School organized a Kidz Fest in the school premises in which the prominent persons of the locality, students, parents and a lot of people from neighbouring and border areas participated. There were around 40 stalls of food items, swings and different fun games for children and parents. The Fest was inaugurated by Sham Lal Choudhary, Minister for PHE Irrigation and Flood Control. The school also organized a lucky draw and attractive prizes were given away to the winners. The closing ceremony and lucky draw function was graced by Dr Kamal Saini, Chairman, Amarjeet Sing, Vice-Chairman, Satvinder Saini, Director, Shibu Mathew K, Principal and Vikesh Sandhal, Vice-Principal.
Wonder World School celebrated Children’s Day to mark the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, the first Prime minister of the Country. The celebration commemorates his affection towards children and the faith that education of children could propel the country’s progress. On this day a range of fun filled activities were organised in the school. Children enjoyed magic show, dance, music and Bal Mela which were arranged for the students by the Chairperson Gitanjali Mahajan.
To commemorate Children’s day 2016, Dr Gautam Sharma, President, Indian Dental Association (IDA), Jammu, conducted an oral health awareness lecture and dental check-up camp in the Government Girls High School, Nagri Parole, in which 254 girl students of the school were examined. This camp was organised in collaboration with NGO Association For Service to Humanity and Allied (ASHA). Abbott Healthcare provided free toothpastes and mouthwash for the camp. Earlier, Daljit Singh Sasan, Principal of the school presented the welcome address. Among others present were NM Sumbria, Dr Kuldeep Mahotra, Mahesh Gupta, Som Nath, SK Sharma, Shiv Dev Singh, Jagdish Chander and Ashok Ratta from ASHA and Ashish Gupta from Abbott Healthcare.
