Protest against doc as PHE worker dies in hospital

POONCH,  Nov 13: The attendants and relatives of a PHE worker from Mandi area of Poonch district held protest  at District Hospital last night here after the employee died in hospital due to alleged negligence of medical staff on duty.
The family members of Muneer Hussain, son of Ghulam Hussain, resident of Mandi alleged that Muneer was ailing for the past some time. He was brought to  Mandi  hospital where doctors referred him to District hospital Poonch last night as  his condition deteriorated.
The family alleged that a doctor on night duty at DH Poonch when requested to attend the patient, he preferred to chat on his mobile phone and he did not turn up from his duty room. The junior staff did attend the patient  and due to negligence on the part of doctor  and some medical staff he died in hospital after some time.  The relatives of the deceased patient  lodged protest against hospital staff. Later SHO and then ASP also  arrived there and they tried to defuse the situation.
DC Poonch when contacted said that he has asked Assistant Commissioner to initiate an inquiry and submit report.  He said action will be taken if the negligence of the Medical staff was proved.
