POONCH, Nov 15: A five-day long artificial limbs free fitment camp organized by Pritam Trust Poonch in collaboration with 93 Infantry Brigade Poonch concluded here the other day.
In the camp 81 limbs, 9 clippers, 12 wheel chairs, 20 Artho-shoes and 10 heaving aids were provided free of cost at the Pritam Trust Artificial Limbs Centre Poonch. The fabrication team came from BMVVSS Kota (Rajasthan) and it was headed by Devki Nandan.
One of the members of the team, whose upper both limbs are amputated, by overcoming his disability, was seen writing and getting registered all the documents in the camp with his right foot. He remained a source of attraction and inspiration for all who attended the camp area.
The beneficiaries came from 22 border villages of Poonch and Rajouri which were earlier selected by the survey team of the Trust with the help of Army personnel.
The president of Pritam Trust along with senior members trustee distributed the blankets among all the physically challenged persons, visiting the camp. These woolen blankets were sponsored by S Amarjeet Bawa in the memory of her husband late S Surjeet Singh Bawa, who remained a trustee for more than a decade, on the auspicious occasion of Gurpurab.
The camp was inaugurated by Commander 93 Inf Brigade, Brig AS Pendarkar, Assistant Commissioner M Ashraf, Addl SP MA Mir, Chief Medical Officer Dr Nazir Ahmed, Shahnaz Bandey AD Food Supply, S. Rajinder Singh, KK Kapoor Retd CEO, Dr Ruby DHO, senior Army and BSF officers and CEO of prominent citizens of Poonch attended the closing ceremony at the camp.
Brig Pendhakr appreciated the noble gesture of the Trust and assured the Trust president Prof Joginder Singh all possible help in future from the Army side.
Prof Jagbir Singh Sudan, president of Pritam Trust in his concluding address thanked the Army authorities for sponsoring the camp and the Principal Zia-Ul-Aloom for all kind of help in making the camp a great success.
