JAMMU: Nov 15. In its constant endeavor to ‘Keep India Smiling’, Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited, in association with Indian Dental Association (IDA), kicked off the 2016 edition of the Oral Health Month (OHM).
Currently in its 13th year, Oral Health Month is an annual program that strives to educate people about oral hygiene and its significance, and also to encourage healthy oral habits, through an array of activities like, free dental check-ups in more than 1200 cities, mobile dental vans travelling to 26 cities to provide dental check-ups, imparting dental education to school kids, dental camps in Army canteens & mall outlets.
Highlighting the significance of Oral Health Month 2016, Issam Bachaalani, Managing Director, Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited said, ”our recent Consumer Usage & Attitude Study (CUAS -2016) report brings forth the fact that less than one third of the population visited a dentist in the past year. Actually, less than half of the population has ever visited a dentist in their lifetime. While there are a number of reasons for such low percentage, there is a broad consensus that regular dental visits and proper oral hygiene are the fundamentals towards a life of healthy, happy smiles.”
”Colgate -Palmolive (India) Limited in association with the Indian Dental Association has been working towards educating consumers towards adopting and maintaining healthy oral hygiene in their daily lives. The Oral Health Month is an important part of our larger objective to ‘Keep India Smiling’ through a focused two-month long activity where we reach out to people from all across the country through different platforms to provide them with an access to dentists and enable free dental check-ups”, he added.
