NCP opposes LS polls in Valley in Dec

JAMMU, Nov 17: Former Minister and state president of NCP Thakur  Randhir Singh today said that Lok Sabha elections in the Kashmir valley should be deferred.
In a press statement issued here today,  the NCP leader said that  taking into account law and order situation in Kashmir valley which was shut for more than three months and still struggling to bring the normalcy, the Parliamentary elections should be postponed.
He said the State NCP is against holding the Parliament  elections in two constituencies of Kashmir valley Anantnag and Srinagar. “The party does not supports early elections till law and order situation comes under control”, Mr Singh added.
The NCP leader said that Election Commission is holding elections in the middle of December or after it.  He said the the final decision in this regard has to be taken by the Election Commission of India. Mr Singh said he has already written to Chief Electoral Officer,  Shantmanu in this regard.
