KOLKATA: The sequel to the Byomkesh Bakshi series in Bengali titled “Byomkesh Parbo” will now show the sleuth in a new avatar and will be performing daredevil stunts for the first time.
Released last year, “Har Har Byomkesh” was the first in the Byomkesh Bakshi series of Bengali films directed by Arindam Sil and starred Abir Chatterjee in the lead role.
Releasing this Christmas, the second installment “Byomkesh Parbo” promises to captivate the audience with a more gripping narrative and some unabated action, Sil said.
Based on Sharadindu Bandhopadhyay’s classic series, the quintessential cerebral Bengali sleuth Byomkesh Bakshi will be revealing his daring side as he pulls off some daredevil stunts for very the first time.
The director said he can keep re-inventing Byomkesh multiple times and in multiple ways.
“Byomkesh Bakshi is one character in Bengali literature whose colossal depth lies in the multiple layers of his persona. Though he is a deep thinker, a ‘Satyanweshi’ (Truth Seeker) yet his unflinching courage, righteous nature and dauntless spirit keep him apart from the rest,” Sil said.
“Byomkesh Parbo” begins immediately after the independence, where the undaunted seeker of truth will make his way through the dark jungles of Dooars solving the enigma of a ghostrider and ensuing murders in north Bengal. (AGENCIES)
