Vigilance produces challan against accused Patwari

JAMMU, Nov 19: The State Vigilance Organization today produced charge sheet (challan) in the Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge, Anti-Corruption, Udhampur against then Patwari Halqa Tikri, who was caught red handed accepting bribe.
Charge-sheet against Sanjeev Kumar, then Patwari Halqa Tikri, was produced in case FIR No.02/2015, under Section 5 (1)(d) r/w (2) J&K P C  Act Svt. 2006 and Section 4-A PC Act (Amendment 2014) Police Station Vigilance Organization, Jammu.
The case was registered on the basis of written complaint lodged by the complainant Davinder Singh Thakur of Tikri Gool in Udhampur who had applied for a loan from J&K Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) to setup a poultry unit under Capital Seed Scheme for which he required land papers for processing of the said bank loan.
As per the complaint his share in the land under khasra No.1892 belonging to his father needed to be transferred in his name in the Revenue record for processing the said bank loan and he applied for the same before Tehsildar Udhampur who marked his application to the accused Patwari Sanjeev Kumar,  then Posted in Patwari Halqa Tikri.
However, the accused Patwari demanded Rs 10000/- to separate his share from his father’s land. Despite taking Rs 4000/- as bribe from the complainant, the accused Patwari did not provide him the Revenue papers and demanded remaining bribe amount of Rs 6000/- to issue the said Revenue papers. Aggrieved with the demand of bribe, the complainant filed a complaint in the Vigilance Organization, Jammu, which laid a successful trap and caught the Patwari red handed while accepting Rs 6000/- from the complainant Davinder Singh Thakur.
After completing the investigation, Government sanction for launching prosecution against the accused was obtained from the competent authority and accordingly the challan was produced against him in Anti-corruption Court Udhampur for his judicial determination.
The next date of hearing in the case has been fixed for December 10, 2016.
