MUMBAI, Oct 6:
Actor-Producer Akshay Kumar, who tasted success with his latest release ‘Oh My God’, a satire on blind religious faith and beliefs in India, says he wants to make films that impact the society.
“My production house is going to make socially relevant films that have a message… The work of Grazing Goat production company is to do something to talk about. My next film is going to be a Marathi film and I will discuss about it later,” Akshay said.
The actor-producer, who recently became a father for the second time, said that he wants wife Twinkle to watch the film.
“I am waiting for my wife to watch the film. I am just blessed with a daughter… So she is not yet ready to go to theatres and watch it and I don’t want her to watch it on DVD. I am hoping her to get well soon, so she can go to theatre and watch,” Akshay said.
Produced jointly by Akshay and Ashvini Yardi’s home production company, Grazing Goat Pictures and Paresh Rawal, the film hit the screens on September 28.
‘Oh My God’, saw Akshay play the role of modern-day God while Paresh essayed the role of atheist.
“What the movie says, talks is the truth. I think my way of praying was wrong like going to temple, donation and all… you can help the needy people. If you do good work then god will help you, shower his blessings,” Akshay said.
Co-producer, Paresh Rawal says, “We are happy that people have liked the film. We did not make the film with the intention of earning money. Through this film we wanted to create awareness and change the thinking of the people.”
Directed by Umesh Shukla, the film is based on Gujarati play ‘Kanji Viruddh Kanji’. (PTI)
