Separatists extend strike till Dec 1 in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: The separatist organisations have extended the strike till December 1 in Kashmir Valley, where life remained crippled since July 9, a day after Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander Burhan Wani and two other militants were killed in an encounter in Anantnag.

The killing was followed by massive protests across the Valley during which over 90 people, mostly youth, were killed and several thousands were wounded in security force and police actions.

Both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC) and the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), spearheading the agitation since July 9, in a fresh protest calendar issued this evening, have extended the strike till December 1.

There will be, however, two-day relaxation on Saturday and Monday, the calendar said, adding that there will also be relaxation from 1600 hrs to 0700 hrs next day on November 30 and December 1. (AGENCIES)
