Srinagar, Nov 25: Scores of Jammu and Kashmir Bank account holders today protested against Manager of Bank’s one Harai branch in Kralpora area of Kupwara district and accused him of favoritism and corruption.
The protesters alleged that Bank’s branch manager only gives cash to ‘influential’ people and ignores poor. “We are being ignored and left unattended for whole days. When we tried to approach the concerned manager, he threw us out,” the distressed protesters said.
Most of the account holders belong to remote areas and are working with Army and Border Roads Organisation (BRO). “All our wages are in bank accounts and by denying us our own money, we are being left for starvation,” the protesters said.
The protesters said that when they tried to approach the Bank manager today again he closed down the Bank branch and fled away from the spot. “We appeal concerned authorities to take note of this serious matter and take this person to task for making poor suffer,” they added.
