JMC serves ultimatum on parking

JAMMU, Nov 25: The business community in Jammu especially the firms and companies will face a stern action in case they fail to make proper arrangements of parking lots for their business houses.
The warning in this regard was issued by Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) here, today.
In a statement issued to the press JMC Commissioner Manmohan Singh said “ as per the provisions incorporated in the Jammu Master Plan 2021 & J&K Municipal Corporation Act, 2000 and also in light of the directions passed by the State High Court in this regard, all the persons/ firms and companies or any other entity who are running their business activities without proper parking place are directed to ensure that they have sufficient parking as per the respective requirement or arrange/earmark proper parking within period of one month from today failing which strict action as provided under law will be taken against them’’.
The statement further said that the action may even include sealing and demolition of the premises at the cost of the violators of law.
The decision was taken by the JMC to ensure that the public in general and pedestrians in particular are not subjected to inconveniences in using the foot paths and plying their vehicles on the city roads.
The warning has been issued to the members of business community who are engaged in business activities like nursing homes, malls, banquet halls, commercial complexes, banks, hotels, Bar & Restaurant, gyms, sports clubs, tutorials, snooker shops, hair/ beauty saloons or any other major public service utilities.  They were asked to ensure sufficient parking so that there is no public nuisance or traffic hazards in the city.
