Samba Police foils bovine smuggling bid

JAMMU, Nov 26: Samba Police foiled a major attempt of bovine smuggling in district Samba where during the late last night a surprise naka was laid by Police party of P/S Ghagwal headed by SI Rajeshwar Singh under the supervision of Varinder Singh Dy.SP Hqrs. Samba near Tapyal on NHW-1A.
During checking at about 0445 hrs a truck bearing registration No. JK02AF-9867 which was coming from Kathua side was signaled to stop but driver accelerated the speed of the vehicle and drove fast towards Samba. The police party acting swiftly chased the truck and intercepted it near Jatwal on NHW.
The driver of vehicle taking advantage of darkness fled away from the spot. However on checking 10 bovine animals (09 Oxen & 01 Cow) were found brutally tied with ropes inside the truck.  The truck and the bovine animals were seized and a case FIR No. 100/2016 U/S 188/RPC, 2/3 PC Act, 184/183/179 M.V Act has been registered in Police Station Ghagwal in this regard and investigation taken up.
