Various institutions celebrate Constitution Day

JAMMU, Nov 26: Various educational institutions, Government Departments, judicial bodies and other organizations today commemorated the Constitution Day by organizing different events highlighting features of the Indian Constitution.
The Government of India had declared 26 November as Constitution Day as on this day in 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, and it went into effect on 26 January 1950.
In order to commemorate the Constitution Day, GGM. Science College, Jammu organized a variety of events encompassing debate competition and information lecture concerning the Constitution of India. The series of events went underway in the presence of Nodal Principal, Prof.  Ajeet Angral who spearheaded the mass reading of preamble early in the morning. Following this, an awareness session and a mock parliament drill were organized.   An essay competition was organized on the topic “Role of Governor in the Indian Federal System”.
Thereafter, a debate competition on the topic “Are Directive Principles Key to Good Governance of India” was organized.
The events were organized under the supervision of Dr. Anuradha Pandoh and Dr. Neeti Chibber.  Satuti Abrol conducted the proceeding of the programme and a formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr Anuradha Pandoh.
NCC and NSS wings of Govt MAM College, Jammu celebrated Constitution Day   by organizing a one day seminar on the topic-Fundamental Rights and Duties. The key note address  was delivered by Prof Nirlape Kour, HoD Political Science. This was followed by mass reading of preamble and Fundamental Duties as well as administering of pledge. The students also participated actively in Mock Parliament Session organized for passing the bill on demonetization of Rs 500/-/Rs  1000/- currency notes. The third session involved an extension lecture by Advocate Vivek Sharma, J&K High Court.  The programme was conducted Prof Savita Jamwal, Associated NCC Officer and vote of thanks was given by Dr Sangeeta Sudan
Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, Jammu, observed the Constitution Day here today. The major attraction of the day was the display of the replica of the original copy of Indian constitution at ICCR Regional headquarters and to see that there was huge enthusiasm amongst the youngsters, particularly the students.
The Regional Director of ICCR Jammu, Balwant Thakur, threw light on importance of the Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Divas.
The NSS units of Govt Degree College Udhampur celebrated the constitution Day. On this occasion, the students expressed their views and highlighted the importance of Constitution, its inception and adoption. The Principal of the College, Prof S S Bhalwal asked the students to acquaint themselves with the fundamental rights and duties and give respect to the sacred book of Indian Constitution.
Law Day was celebrated by Dogra Law College.  The function was presided over by Th Gulchain Singh Charak, the chairman of Dogra Educational Trust and the former Minister of Higher Education in J&K.  On the occasion, a seminar was organized on the topic “Right of Media vis a vis Individual’s Right to Privacy”, in which students of 5 years BA LLB integrated course and 3 years LL.B (Professional) course enthusiastically put forward their views. Abhinav Sharma, president, Bar Association Jammu, was the guest of honour   Himani Khajuria was adjudged the Best Speaker and Gurkirat Kour’s paper was adjudged the Best in the seminar.
In connection with the Constitution Day, a seminar was organized in the Government degree College Bhaderwah.  Prof Z.A Hashmi, Principal of the college presided over the function. Large number of the NSS volunteers and staff of the college participated in it. Speakers highlighted the basic and fundamental aspects of the Indian constitution.
The students of 3rd semester (B.Ed) of Ramisht College of Education, Basohli, celebrated the Constitutional Day at Govt Higher Secondary School, Basohli, in which they guided the students about the constitution of India.   In this program, teachers of the school and the students of the college played an important part.
NSS Unit of the Ramnagar College celebrated the Constitutional Day under the   guidance of NSS programme officer Prof Kewal Kumar. Prof Tara Nath, Principal of the college was chief guest during the function and he delivered lecture on the thoughts and the role of Dr B. R Ambedkar in framing the Constitution. He appealed the students to work for unity and integration of nation.
NSS unit of GDC Thanamandi observed Constitution Day by organizing a function wherein Principal of the college, Dr Shakeel Ahmed Raina, stressed upon the need for protecting the composite culture of the country as envisaged in the Constitution as a fundamental duty. Dr   Abbas Wani (HoD. Pol Science) presented a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the Preamble and Fundamental Duties as given in Indian Constitution.
A host of activities were organized by BSF School to celebrate Constitution Day.
Principal, Dr S K Shukla addressed the students highlighting the significance of celebrating Constitution Day. He also administered the pledge by reciting the Preamble to the constitution. Various activities like essay competitions, debates, speeches, quiz etc were also held on the topic related to the constitution. Mridull and group from Senior Division and Pranav and group from junior division were adjudged winners.
A poster making competition was also organized.
Government Degree College R S Pura organized a symposium on the “Constitution Day” The programme was organized by IQAC and NSS committee under the convenership of Principal Prof Savitri Sharma.  Nine students of the college participated in the symposium and presented their views on the constitution of India. Dr Vishal Sharma, Professor of Political Science, highlighted importance of Constitution Day
NSS wing of Govt College for Women Udhampur organized a function on “Observance of Constitution day”. Prof K S Koushal, Principal GCW Udhampur, and other faculty members were present on the occasion. Bhawani Gogna read out the Preamble while Prof Swarna Bhougal highlighted the significance of Fundamental Rights and Duties.
NSS unit of Government College for Women Kathua celebrated Constitution Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. To mark the occasion, Preamble of the Constitution and fundamental duties were read by the students. Principal Prof Ravi presided over the function and exhorted upon the students to be aware of the fundamental duties of the citizens and should try to follow the same in their lives.
The NSS wing of KC College of Education organized a seminar on the topic “Our Fundamental Rights and Duties”. The participants spoke at length about the various articles/ constitutional provisions with special mention of those which provide equality, justice and brotherhood. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shamima Bano, Principal of the college, called upon the volunteers to reiterate their pledge to abide by the values enshrined in Indian constitution.
The Constitution Day was observed at various educational and other Government institutions including the DC office, in district Udhampur.
Various District Officers along with their staff members,   participated in a programme held in the premises of DC office, in which ‘Preamble to the Constitution’ was read out.
Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Niraj Kumar, ACR Subhash Chander Dogra, DSWO Rachna Sharma, DIO Esha Chib besides other district officers were present on the occasion.
District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Poonch in collaboration with Bar Association celebrated Law Day in the District Court Complex here.
The function was organized in the bar room and was attended by lawyers, judicial officers, some students of Degree College Poonch along with their professors. Tahir Khurshid Raina, Principal District and Sessions Judge Poonch, who is also Chairman of District Legal Services Authority Poonch was the chief guest on the occasion.
The welcome address was presented by Secretary Bar Association Anjum Mehmood, who also conducted the proceedings of the function.
In his address, Chairman DLSA gave detailed account of the concept of Law Day, it’s origin and indispensability. He said, “this is the day to reiterate our pledge to be a law abiding citizen”, adding “writ of law in the society is the hallmark of civilized and progressive society”.
“We are governed by the best Constitution of the world which is a marvelous gift of the Constituent Assembly to the people of the country. If we have not been able to achieve  desired goal so far as fixed by the Constitution, it’s not the Constitution which has failed us rather we may have gone wrong somewhere”, Raina said, adding “rule of law is the basic structure of Indian Constitution and all institutions of the country must observe it to the hilt”.
Others who also spoke on the occasion included Taj Hussain Shah, President Bar Association Poonch, Advocate Sanjay Raina, Advocate Abaas Khan, Advocate Anuj Kapoor,  Advocate Iftikhar Bazmi and Dr Shamim Ahmed.
Law Day was also observed in the District Court premises, under the chairmanship of K S Parihar, Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Udhampur. The Law Day was organized on the topic “Speedy Justice’, which was attended by Sonia Gupta (Addl District Judge, Udhampur), R K Dubey (Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Udhampur), Rajni Sharma (Special Mobile Magistrate Udhampur), Sushil Singh (Munsif JMIC Udhampur), Anjana Rajput (Addl Spl Mobile Magistrate Udhampurt),  Parveen Pandoh (District Judicial  Mobile Magistrate-Traffic, Udhampur), Surinder Khajuria (Secretary Bar), Yog Raj Sharma from Bar Association Udhampur, Yasmeen and Anoop Gupta.
Similarly, several programmes, like Essay competitions, Debate competitions were also organized on the occasion of Constitution Day at Chenani, Ramnagar, Dudu, Basantgarh and Majalta in the district.
The frontier District Kargil celebrated the Constitution Day by organizing a programme, which was inaugurated by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Kacho Turab Shah at Conference Hall Baroo Kargil. The function started with National Anthem and followed by reading of the Preamble and Fundamental Duties.
All India Radio Kargil also Celebrated the Constitution day at All India Radio Baroo Kargil in which the Deputy Director General DDG (E) Mukesh Kumar and Programme Head, Sonam Angchuk, all the officers and staff members of the station participated.
On the direction of DDG (E) Mukesh Kumar, All India Radio Drass, Tai Suru and Padum and DMC Kargil also celebrated Constitution Day.
Tehsil Legal Service Committee Leh celebrated “National Law Day” at conference Hall Leh today. Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Spalzes Angmo was chief guest on the occasion. Religious heads, political parties heads, councillor Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Merchant Association president Haji Riyaz Ahmed, DySP Hq, Peer Zahoor, SDRF DySP Sonam Dorjay, District officers, various organisations’ heads, Advocates, Director SOS and other were present on the occasion.
Like other parts of the State, Constitution Day was also observed in district Ramban and several programmes were organized at various institutions, including Deputy Commissioner Office Ramban, Government Degree College, Higher Secondary School, Bharatiya Vidya Mandir (BVM) High School Ramban, etc. Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Aijaz presided over the assembly, which was   organized in DC office Ramban, wherein all the district and sectoral officers and officials were administered a Pledge.
Salal Power Station celebrated ‘Constitution Day’ by organizing a function wherein A G Ansari, General Manager, Salal Power Station, read out the preamble of the Constitution.
On the occasion, Ansari recalled Dr B R Ambedkar, Father of the Indian Constitution for his immense contribution towards welfare of poor people of the country.
DPS Jammu organized a special assembly, Quiz competition and Preamble Reading Activity in its premises today. During the assembly, which was dedicated to the theme of the Constitution Day, Saujanya Raj, of class VIII delivered a speech on the significance of Constitution of India. This was followed by a lively orchestral performance on patriotic composition.  Later, a quiz contest was also organized.   Speaking on the occasion, the Principal, DPS Jammu, Ruchi Chabra urged the students to imbibe the principles enshrined in the Constitution of India.
In Government HSS Budhi (Kathua), Constitution Day was celebrated with great ferver and enthusiasm. On the occasion, an inter-house competition was held in which students spoke on the various aspects of Indian Constitution. In this competition Haseena of Bhagat Singh House stood first and Rama of Chandrashekhar house stood second and Vanshika of Gandhi House stood Third.
Jammu Sanskriti School organized a function in the school premises along with various activities like wall campaign, essay writing, debate etc  to celebrate the Constitution Day. Teacher Rashi Gupta and Komal Charak enlightened the students about features of the Constitution and the role of Constitution in everyday life. Principal cum vice chairperson, Rohini also spoke on the occasion.
Rich Harvest School, Bari Brahmana celebrated the Constitution Day in the school premises. Amidst the celebrations, a mass reading of the preamble was conducted. The mass reading also included the presentation of striking facts of the preamble like who designed the Preamble and objective resolution on which it was drafted. The students of various senior classes participated in the act which also involved visual presentation of the preamble.
Constitution Day was celebrated in Government Model HSS Boys Udhampur. In this connection, a simple but impressive program was organized, which was chaired by Ved Parkash Sharma, Principle of the School. Students from all the four houses delivered speeches regarding the constitution of India and highlighted the role of Baba Sahib Bhim Rao Ambedkar in drafting the constitution of India.
Kendriya Vidyalaya Kathua celebrated Constitution Day by organizing a special assembly, in which portrait of Dr B R Ambedkar was garlanded. Speakers threw light on significance of the day. Besides, activities like quiz competition and speech competition were organized on the theme of Indian Constitution.
