Kavinder, Ambardar inaugurate exhibition on temples of Kashmir

JAMMU, Nov 26: Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta along with MLC Surinder Ambardar and Swami Kumar Ji today inaugurated the two days photo exhibition of ancient shrines and temples of Kashmir at Kala Kendra here.
The two day exhibition jointly organized by Zeashta Devi Parbhandak Committee, Temples and Shrines Management Board and Save Temples of Kashmir Movement will culminate tomorrow with an intellectuals meet.
This was stated by B B Bhat president Zeashta Devi Prabandhak Committee. He said Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu will be the chief guest during intellectuals meet tomorrow.
Over 500 still photos of ancient shrines and temples were displayed in the photo exhibition showcasing the rich cultural and religious history of Kashmir valley.
Talking to media persons Kavinder Gupta said that there are different schemes with both State and Central Governments for renovation and preservation of ancient monuments and the temples of Kashmir having the great relevance as per Vedas and Puranas so their preservation for posterity is must.
He declared that he will take up the issue of preservation of these historical monuments with the Union Cultural Ministry and State Tourism Department besides his party  and all efforts will be made for the renovation of damaged temples to preserve the rich cultural heritage of Valley.
Surinder Ambardar said that the land of Kashmir has given birth to many sages and saints and Kashmir was a seat of learning from times immemorial. The contribution of Kashmir to Indian aesthetics is tremendous as the Valley has produced the world renowned scholars and Shivachariyas among whom Abhinav Gupta was a gem, he added.
He said the need of hour is to revive the ancient glory of Kashmir. He also appreciated the initiative taken by the three religious and social organizations in organizing this photo exhibition.
The president of Shrines Management Board B L Bhan and Save Temples of Kashmir Movement Ravinder Jogi were also present on the occasion.
