JKCCTU holds conference

JAMMU, Nov 28: Jammu and Kashmir Coordination Committee of Trade Unions (JKCCTU) held regional conference at Miran Sahib today in which about 200 delegates representing different unions and associations of Government and semi-Government departments participated. Thoru Ram presided over the conference.
Mohd Maqbool, National Secretary of All India State Government Employees Federation and State president JKCCTU, while inaugurating explained the present challenges facing the working class in general and Government employees in particular because of on-going neo-liberal economic and anti-labour policies of Central and State Governments.
He said the attack on social security system like pension, massive casual and contract system after abolishing the permanent nature of jobs with no wage and regulation policies for temporary workers has posed the biggest challenges today which needs to be fought by intensifying the struggle unitedly. He demanded implementation of 7th Pay Commission report with full parity after removing anti-employees measures, adequate wage and regularization policy for all temporary workers like Anganwadi, Asha and other workers, removal of pay anomalies of clerical staff, withdrawal of obnoxious pension and urged all employees’ organizations of the State to forge a broader unity to achieve these immediately.
The conference was addressed by JKCCTU general secretary Gurmeet Singh who highlighted burning demands of the employees and asked the employees to unify their ranks and prepare themselves for a big struggle ahead.
The conference was also addressed by Ajay Sharma, Ramesh Chander, Deepak, Sher Singh Bali, Bal Krishan, Kuldeep Singh, Tarsem Lal, Joginder Lal, Tarjodan Singh, Amarjeet Singh, Des Raj, Bhopinder Koul, Paramjeet Singh and others.
The conference adopted many resolutions on burning issues and elected a 15 member committee. Ajay Sharma, convenor reception committee gave vote of thanks.
