JAMMU, Nov 28: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga today chaired the 134th meeting of Board of Directors of J&K SIDCO.
Minister of State for Hajj & Auqaf (Independent charge), PHE and Irrigation & Flood Control, Power Development, Industries & Commerce Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi (Vice-Chairman J&K SIDCO) was also present in the meeting.
Ganga who is also Chairman of the Board, reviewed the progress on various industrial infrastructure projects undertaken by SIDCO.
The meeting reviewed the progress on creation of land bank for new Industrial estates and extension of existing Industrial Estates. Developmental works of the Industrial Estates at Ghatti in Kathua, Ompora in Budgam and land acquisition process for IGC Samba Phase- III and Narkara Budgam were also discussed in the meeting.
The Board was also informed about the major projects being initiated by SIDCO including Trade Facilitation Centre at Salamabad, Uri, Phase – II National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), IT Tower Building Phase-II and implementation of projects under TAMEIR (The Aggregative Macro Economic & Infrastructure Rebuilding) and construction of Conference Hall at IGC Lassipora.
The meeting also discussed the proposal to charge Micro and Small units having land requirement upto 2 kanals in respect of Zone A (Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama, Ganderbal, Baramulla and Anantnag in Kashmir region and Jammu, Udhampur, Samba and Kathua in Jammu region) at the rate of Rs 3 lakh per kanal.
Managing Director SIDCO, Amit Sharma while enumerating the achievements of the Corporation informed the Board that 2000-3000 kanals of land has been identified at village Meen Charkan, Ismailpur district Samba for setting up industrial units while work of Trade Facilitation Centre at Salamabad Uri, Phase-II with sanctioned cost of Rs 10.73 crore is in full swing and 70 percent work has already been completed.
Ganga laid stress on optimum land use plan in the Industrial Estates of the State and issued instructions for retrieval of un-utilized allotted land so that the same can be offered to prospective entrepreneurs being in queue for allotment of land.
